Comments:

During a ten-year period from January 1990 to December 1999, the number of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization in children was 314. Therapeutic cardiac catheterizations constituted 32% of all cardiac catheterizations in children. The incidence of congenital heart disease in Qatar is 12/1000 live births (1). This is higher than the reported prevalence of 2.8 to 7.64/1000 live births (2). However, the absolute number of patients is small since the number of live births is around 10,000 per year.
