ALSO Program

Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO)

This course is run under licence from the American Academy of Family Physicians. It is a two and a half day course aimed at Midwives and Obstetricians, although any professional involved in providing maternity care may find the course of value. The course covers a variety of subjects such as interpreting CTG’s; management of shoulder dystocia; instrumental deliveries; malpresentations; neonatal resuscitation and the management of obstetric emergencies. It consists of a mixture of lectures, small group workshops and practical sessions. There is a written examination and practical assessment at the end of the course.
