Public Relations at Hamad Medical Corporation

The Public Relations Department is an integral part of the healthcare support services provided by Hamad Medical Corporation. The sections are : Audiovisual/Television;Patient Relations, Graphic Arts and Photography

Each section is actively engaged in building and maintaining sound relations with patients, hospital staff and the public at large.

Each section interfaces extensively with each other during the production of a wide variety of media materials which fulfill specific communication purposes. Video and television productions of health care programs such as blood donation, immunization and anti-smoking, to name a few, are produced by the department for the benefit of the public at large.

A number of technical support services by each section in the department are developed, designed and produced to match and satisfy the needs of the hospitals in organizing medical lectures and conferences, staff education, patient education and public awareness campaigns. The Department of Public Relations plays a key and central role in the preparation of various media materials such as brochures, leaflets, posters and conference programs.

Over the years, the department's services have expanded and diversified. Its responsibilities and services have increased to keep up with the expansion and increase in HMC medical and healthcare service requirements brought about by the increase in population. This means provision of information and services to a wide variety of groups and individuals in the society.

The growing need to cope with the vast amount of information generated by the Corporation’s services and its instant transfer would have been impossible to achieve without the help of computer technology.

To cope with this need and keep pace with the tide of new technology, the department has computerized its technical support services. Powerful computers and video-imaging facilities are now available in the department.

The Department of Public Relations has taken a lead in creating computer designed medical illustrations, computer-generated slides, computer publication layouts and computer animated video recordings.
