HEMATOLGY/ONCOLOGY

The Hematology and Oncology service was set up in 1986. A Day Care Unit for chemotherapy was established with two beds in the Outpatient Department. Later, the Unit was moved to the third floor of HGH and expanded into a 5-bed ward.The chemotherapy room has been moved to the ground floor in the year 2000. It has now 8 beds.  Bone marrow transplantation (allogeneic,autologous,non-myeloablative) is being done in the unit since August 1998. There are 3 consultants,2 senior specialists and 1 specialist in the unit.
