Activities:

• Nephrology outpatient follow-up and consultation:   Every week, over 120 patients with various medical kidney diseases are seen and followed up with full coordination of the Dietitian and Social Worker.

• Renal Transplant Clinic follow-up and consultations.
  

Renal Transplant Program

13 renal transplants were successfully done over the last 3 months. A total of 44 renal transplant operations were done at HGH since 1986.  Follow-up of over 200 renal transplant patients operated at overseas medical centers, and 44 cases operated in Doha. Post operative care is provided in cooperation with the Vascular Surgeon, Urologist and the Organ Transplant Team in Doha.  Immunosuppressant drugs such as azathiprine, prednisone, cyclosporine, mycofenate mofetil, ATG and OK T3 are all available for prescription.

• Inpatient Nephrology consultations:Providing inpatient consultation is a regular procedure specially in critical areas such as the CCU, MICU and SICU.

• Chairing of
  Postgraduate medical education programs
  Research and medical publications
  Information and publication of pamphlets for renal patients
  The Nephrology Specialty Section provides postgraduate clinical training for junior internists and holds regular teaching sessions.
