Neuro- Intensive Care Service This service has been provided in the Surgical ICU. In 1998, the Neurosurgery cases admitted to SICU included: 134 cases of severe traumatic brain injury, 21 cases of brain haemorrhage, 92 cases of brain and spinal operations. This is in addition to the patients with spinal injuries and cases treated jointly with other specialties. Neurotruama: Traumatic brain and spinal injury cases continue to form the the commonest serious emergency conditions admitted to the Surgical ICU. Brain Haemorrhage: With a high incidence of spontaneous brain haemorrhage in Qatar, managment starts as soon as the patient arrives at the A/E.
