DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY

The Department of Surgery is one of the most dynamic departments in the hospital. It provides an extensive array of services through its general surgery and seven major subspecialty sections, namely: Urology, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pediatric Surgery and Neurosurgery.

The fifteen year period is characterized by growth and expansion. Outpatient clinics were added as demand for services increased. New subspecialty clinics were introduced, i.e. Anesthesia Clinic (1993) and Andrology Clinic (1995) to address specific medical requirements.

The Department of Surgery pioneers in investigative research and innovation of techniques, particularly in the field of Urology. The enormous advances in technology have made possible diagnostic and interventional procedures that are precise, easy and minimally invasive.

Supporting the department's wide ranging services are 8 operating theaters, 270 surgical inpatient beds and a 12-bed surgical intensive care unit.
