Future Plans

Expansion and steady improvement in the treatment modalities available have been set as short-term goals of the Department. On the planning board is a Pediatric Asthma Emergency Center to address the rise of patient demands in this area and expansion of a treatment facility for autistic children. This facility was first established at Rumailah Hospital in 1997.

Expansion of other services is currently on-going. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is currently undergoing expansion to accommodate 16 more sick neonates. Meanwhile, inpatient facilities at the Children's Rehabilitation Unit will shortly be upgraded with an increase in bed capacity to 32. The CRU Day Care unit for outpatients will likewise be improved.
