Pharmacy Department
The Quality of pharmaceutical services in Hamad Medical Corporation has greatly advanced and improved since its start 1982. These wide range of services can be summed under two categories. A. Patient care services. Patient care services encompass modern pharmacy concepts and techniques such as unit dose distribution system, an all- covering IV admixture program including TPN and cytotoxic services for inpatients, and a fully computerized outpatient service program. It also includes high level pharmacy service for emergency sections. Clinical Services include a drug and poison information section that offers updated all- Covering information pertaining to all aspects of drug therapy, utilizing computerized drug programs. Its activities include publishing of pharmacy bulletin as well as memos of printed information. A recently created Quality assurance unit is entrusted to raise the pharmacy services in the corporation to internationally established standards in regard to space, equipments, trained staff, drug storage, safe use as well as introduction of monitoring / auditing programs to ensure rational drug usage and reduction of medication errors. This section will also develop and update a manual for pharmacy policy and procedures, a hospital formulary and an in -service training program for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
