BIOGRAPHIES AND SCHOLARS IN
QMJ
We have received many requests from colleagues in
Qatar and abroad to re-publish the biographies of
the Muslim physicians and scientists who contributed
to the development of science and medicine as we know
it today.
The medical community should rightly be indebted
to those and other scholars for their contribution
to science, and the least we can do in gratitude is
to affirm and acknowledge their painstaking efforts.
Many scholars, like William Harvey, have been acknowledged
widely, but many other great scientists have not been
given due attention and have even been forgotten.
Perhaps this is no more true than in the case of Muslim
scientists who carried science & medicine and developed
brilliant theories and practice through the “Dark
Ages”.
To these great scientists who are little mentioned
in today’s literature, we dedicate our contribution.
In the coming issues we will re-publish two physicians/scientists
in each issue.
