The Primary Health Care was reorganized in 1978 and attached to the Ministry of Public Health, were a main plan was set for their comprehensive services, which lead to achieving the social development in the community through a comprehensive health concept (physical, psychological, and social wholeness). Therefore, and in order to achieve such objective, health centers were established in different areas of the country, to make easy access for citizens thereto.

In accordance with the Amiri Decree Law No. (14) dated 18/06/2002 all the Primary Health Care Centers were annexed to Hamad Medical Corporation, which totaling to 24 centes inside and outside Doha city.

Recently, a number of clinics in the Primary Health Care Centers were established such as: The Healthy Woman Clinic, Maternity and Child Care Clinic.

Morever, the Family Medicine Program, Ambulance Services and Emergency Programs, Chronic Diseases Program, Mouth and Dental Health Program, the Specialized Clinics Programs for Ear, Nose, Throat, Ophthalmology and Cardiology were established in a number of the Primary Health Care Centers.
