Health care is the primary concern for our society in Qatar. It is available in all forms, preventive and curative, to a diverse population without any discrimination. The Ministry of Public Health and Hamad Medical Corporation work in smooth coordination to deliver the maximum benefits in the field of medical care.

Heading Ministry of Public Health is:

In order to ensure maximum efficacy and for distribution of work load, the Ministry has several departments. These are:

1. Finance and Personnel Department

2. Department of Preventive Health

3. Department of Medical Commission

4. Medical Licensing Department

5. Drug Control Department and Pharmacy Administration

6. Department of Transport and Communication

7. Department of Public and International Relations

Each department has its own domain of activities.

The Finance and Personnel department is responsible for the monetary affairs and the recruitment procedure for the employees.

Preventive Health dept includes Health Education, Communicable disease control and Prevention, Non Communicable disease Control, Environmental health, Occupational Health, Port and Food Surveillance, Central Laboratory and Vital statistics. The aim of this department is “Prevention is better then cure” and it strives hard to deliver this message to the public through its activities.

The Medical Commission plays a major role in controlling the infectious diseases through examining expatriates coming for employment and to visit Qatar.

Medical Licensing Department plays a supervisory role for the 131 private clinics and 23 polyclinics that provide quality care and excellent patient services.

Drug Control Department and Pharmacy Administration is responsible for receiving, regulating and distributing drugs in the state of Qatar.

Department of Transport and Communication provides facilities of manpower and vehicles for off site projects.

Department of Public and International Relations to maintain a smooth functioning with local and international institutions in different fields of public interest.
