Hamad Medical City/ Doha 2006 Asian Games
The 15th Asian Games will be held in Doha in December 2006. 10,000 athletes
representing over 40 countries will be participating. During these two weeks
the Capital will be the centre of the international sporting scene, with events
occurring throughout the city.
Following the Asian Games the site will become the Hamad Medical City bringing
world-class health care to Qatar. New hospital facilities for Children,
Orthopedics, Physical Medicine, Dialysis Centre, Day Surgery, a Trauma Centre
and a Nursing Home will be completed on the campus totaling approximately 1000
beds. A Nurses Hostel and Married Staff accommodation will be located in the
north of the campus. The Ministry of Public Health will face Al Istiqlal Street
and the Corniche beyond. Staff recreational facilities, shared services, two
mosques and ample parking for staff and public will complete the development.
The following are indicative building areas comprising the overall project:

e) Education Building 3,500m2
f) Two Mosques 1,200m2
g) Energy Centre 9,500m2
The Construction of the overall Project will follow a multi Contractor approach
with a number of separate Tender Packages being constructed simultaneously to
various milestone dates. The programmed completion date for the construction of
the first phase of the project is August 2006.
The location is within the site of the overall project which is located on the
36.5 hectare site of the Hamad Medical City, lying North and East of the
existing Rumaliah and Hamad Hospital between Ahmed Bin Ali Street, Al Razi
Road, Al Istiqlal Street and Mohammad Bin Thani Street.
