From the Editor-in-Chief

The Fifth issue of the Middle East Journal of Emergency Medicine is between your hands. It is now the official Journal for the Pan Arab Society of Trauma and Emergency Medicine, which was launched during the 1st Qatar International Trauma and Emergency Medicine Conference, April 13-16, 2002. This society will bring together Emergency Medicine doctors and trauma care providers from the Arab World. The MEJEM will be the platform for them to express their thoughts about Trauma Care and Emergency Medicine and help them publish their research. All those interested in joining this society can fill and submit the application form available in this issue.

The Pan- Arab Society of Trauma and Emergency Medicine will have the honor to sponsor and endorse the 2nd Qatar International Trauma Care, Disaster and Emergency Medicine Conference which will be held from March 7-11, 2004. I have the pleasure to invite all Emergency Medicine doctors & trauma care providers to attend and participate in this big event. You can find enclosed with this issue the first announcement and call for abstracts containing the application and abstract submission form for the conference.

In this issue you will find a number of original studies and case reports. I hope you enjoy reading it. We also would appreciate any feedback or valuable comments you can provide
