The requirements for submission are in accordance with "Uniform Requirements for Manuscript Submitted to Biomedical Journals" (JAMA 1997; 277;927-934) and the "Declaration of Helsinki recommendations guiding physicians in biomedical research involving human subjects."
(JAMA 1997;277;927-934).

Manuscript preparation: Three copies of the manuscript should be submitted, including three copies of any illustrations. As a general rule, manuscripts and illustrations are not returned to the author regardless of whether or not they are accepted for publication. Manuscripts should be double-spaced with wide margins. All pages should be numbered consecutively, containing the following sections :

1. Title page : The title page should not exceed 40 characters and not contain
    abbreviations. The title page should include: the full names, degrees and
    affiliations of all authors of a study group and the address to which requests for
    reprints and author correspondence should be sent.

 2. Abstracts : The abstract should not exceed 250 words and outline the purpose of
     the article. Original articles require structural abstracts, defining objectives,
     materials, methods, results, and conclusions.

3. Introduction : The introduction should briefly describe the study, question, scope
    and the relevance to emergency medicine.

4. Methods : Should include the study design, population, setting, etc.

5. Results : Should include the statistical analysis of the data. Results should be
    presented in a tabular or graphic form and should be referred to in the texts.

 6. Discussion : The discussion should put the results in the context of the current
     information about the study topic.

 7. Reference : Should be listed in numerical order with abbreviated journal names
    according to the Index Medicus Style. The first three authors should be listed
    followed by "et al" if there are more than three.

8. Tables : The tables must be referred to in the text in sequential order and each
    table must be submitted on a separate page.

9. Figures and figure legends : Figures and figure legends must be referred to in   
     the text in sequential order and submitted on separate pages. Figures should be
     of high quality and the number and name of the first author should be printed on
     the back of each figure.

When accepted, the author will be requested to submit the manuscript, including any tables or figures on diskette to facilitate publication. Editors of the Journal are not responsible for the views and ideas of the authors as presented within their manuscripts.

Reprints may be available if ordered in advance when the manuscript is submitted.
