The requirements for submission are in
accordance with “Uniform Requirements
for Manuscript Submitted to Biomedical
Journals” (JAMA 1997; 277; 927-934) and
the “Declaration of Helsinki Recommendations
guiding physicians in biomedical research
involving human subjects.” (JAMA 1997;
277; 927-934).
Manuscript Preparation: Three copies of
the manuscript should be submitted, including
three copies of any illustrations. As
a general rule, manuscripts and illustrations
are not returned to the author regardless
of whether or not they are accepted for
publication. Manuscripts Should be doubled-
spaced with wide margins. All pages numbered
consecutively, containing the following
sections:

Title Page: The title page should
not exceed 40 characters and not contain
abbreviations. The title page should
include: the full names, degrees and
affiliations of all authors of a study
group and the address to which request
for reprints and author correspondence
should be sent.

Abstracts: The abstract should not
exceed 250 words and outline the purpose
of the article. Original articles
require structural abstracts, defining
objectives, materials, methods, results,
and conclusions.

Introduction: The introduction should
briefly describe the study, question,
scope and the relevance to Emergency
Medicine.

Methods: Should include the study
design, population, setting, etc.

Results: Should include the statistical
analysis of the data. Results should
be presented in a tabular or graphic
form and should be referred to in
the texts.

Discussion: The discussion should
put the results in the context of
the current information about the
study topic.

Reference: Should be listed in numerical
order with abbreviated journal names
according to the index Medicus Style.
The first three authors should listed
followed by “et al” if there are more
than three.

Tables: The tables must be referred
in the text in sequential order and
each table must be submitted on a
separate page.

Figures and Figure Legends: Figures
and figure legends must be referred
in the text in sequential order and
submitted separate pages. Figures
should be of high quality and the
number and names of the first author
should be printed on the back of each
figure.
When accepted the author will be requested
to submit the manuscript, including any
tables or figures on diskette to facilitate
publication. Editors of the Journal are
not responsible for the views and ideas
of the authors as presented within their
manuscripts.
Reprints may be available if ordered
in advance when the manuscript is submitted.
